The 3 R’s: Recognition, remuneration and reimbursement of patient partners in research
Join Stuart Nicholls, Scientist in the Methodological and Implementation Research (MIR) Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and lead of the Office for Patient Engagement in Research Activities (OPERA), for an insightful webinar on how people with lived experience are recognized, remunerated, and reimbursed in research. Dr. Nicholls’ work advances methods for meaningful and equitable engagement, examining barriers, ethical issues, and best practices that strengthen partnerships between researchers and communities. After the webinar, PASSERELLE fellows are invited to an exclusive Meet & Greet with Mr. Nicholls from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM for a more personal exchange. Simultaneous written translation and instant transcription will be available for those who prefer to follow the session in French (or any other language offered through Zoom). Critical Patient-Oriented Research: A Fundamental Shift in Patient Engagement
Join Ambreen Sayani, physician, social scientist, and policy advisor, for an inspiring webinar on advancing equity in cancer care. Dr. Sayani is an Emily Stowe Scholar at Women’s College Hospital, where she founded and leads the Improving Cancer Care Equity (ICCE) Lab. Her work focuses on reducing cancer disparities by promoting equitable access to prevention, early detection, and high-quality care. In addition to her role as Assistant Professor (status) at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health, she serves as Health Equity Advisor to the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, co-chairs the G7 Cancer Inequalities Network, and co-initiated Equity Mobilizing Partnerships in Community.
