PASSERELLE in Action: September Highlights
September was a month marked by meaningful meetings, learning opportunities, and exchanges for PASSERELLE. From a gathering organized by Indigenous communities to the global health research conference, each occasion reflected our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable patient-oriented health research ecosystem.
Strengthening Indigenous Health Research: Honouring Knowledge at Miyo Wâpan (Edmonton)
September began with Miyo Wâpan: Moving Forward in a Good Way, an event organized by Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group) in partnership with CANTRAIN, RareKids-CAN and PASSERELLE.
The event brought together Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and partners to reflect, act, and learn together through the lens of inclusive health research that is respectful of Indigenous realities.
It also marked the launch of the Indigenous Community Guiding Circle (ICGC), which will help strengthen research and training capacity within Indigenous communities and equip those involved in health research to develop collaborative, respectful, and culturally grounded approaches.
Learning from the PxP Community: For Patients, By Patients (Online)
Later in the month, PASSERELLE took part in the PxP Conference,a free and fully virtual event focused on patients and public engagement in health research. PxP is a great example of how collaboration, mentorship, and collective learning can lead to meaningful change across the health research ecosystem.
By sharing resources, experiences, and support, researchers, patient partners, and organizations worked together to build equitable and lasting partnerships, while nurturing a participatory and inclusive research culture that advances knowledge mobilization across Canada.
Sharing Knowledge at WONCA World Conference 2025 (Lisbon)
At the end of the month, PASSERELLE participated in the 25th WONCA World Conference of Family Doctors in Lisbon. Over 4,300 participants from 117 different countries made this event an amazing opportunity for learning, exchanging ideas, and networking.
Our team presented a poster highlighting PASSERELLE’s collaborative learning and capacity building approach in patient-oriented research. The conference also provided a valuable opportunity to engage with researchers, clinicians, and educators from around the world, establish new partnerships, and explore new avenues for collaboration.
