Diabetes Action Canada / Action diabète Canada
SPOR Networks | Canada – Global
Diabetes Action Canada is a pan-Canadian research organization, launched in 2016, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) program, with matched funding from non-profit organizations (e.g., Diabetes Canada, JDRF), and private sponsors. Its mission is to co-design, implement and evaluate scalable and equitable models of health and social care services for all persons living with diabetes. It enables important and meaningful connections between patients, their caregivers and researchers to co-develop research questions, plan implementation and inform knowledge mobilization strategies to ensure that research outcomes have impact on transforming health care practice and policy. Diabetes Action Canada partner and collaborate with university research teams across Canada, non-profit organizations, and provincial governments to achieve this mission. This network has established patient-oriented research practices through programs that directly address the prioritized health concerns articulated by persons living with diabetes in Canada.
