Nataly R. Espinoza Suarez: Communication in cancer pain care
Congratulations to Nataly R. Espinoza Suarez, our CPCRN Fellow, for her contribution to a new scoping review focused on the role of communication in the recognition, meaning, and management of cancer-related pain care.
The article analyzes how communication that is driven by compassion, empathy, and collaboration can help with building trust, supporting understanding of what people living with cancer related pain actually experience, and facilitate shared decision-making with healthcare professionals. The authors also introduce the W.O.R.D.S. framework proposed as a more humanistic approach to communication in cancer pain care.
